MAY 17 — A Belle Glade man was arrested last Thursday afternoon on charges of aggravated assault following an altercation on State Road 7 near the intersection with Black Diamond. According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report, the victim contacted the PBSO’s Royal Palm Beach substation after 69-year-old Jesus Torres pointed a silver 9mm pistol at him. According to the report, the victim attempted to follow Torres, who was driving a burgundy Chevy Suburban, but lost him near Belvedere Road. The victim later discovered the vehicle outside the Walmart Supercenter on Belvedere Road and contacted the police. A deputy arrived and discovered the vehicle in the parking lot occupied by Torres. According to the report, the deputy ordered Torres out of the vehicle and could see that he was carrying a concealed weapon. The deputy recovered the weapon, which matched the victim’s description. According to the report, the victim identified Torres as the suspect. Torres was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
MAY 16 — A woman contacted the PBSO substation in Wellington last Wednesday after she discovered an intruder in her home. According to a PBSO report, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the victim was alerted that there had been an intrusion at the rear door of her home. She arrived home to discover an unidentified white male, who fled out the rear door and jumped a fence. The suspect stole an iMac computer and a gold necklace and pendant. The stolen items were valued at approximately $2,125. A canvass of the neighborhood was conducted, but the suspect was not found.
MAY 19 — A Royal Palm Beach woman and an Acreage man were arrested last Saturday night on drug charges following a traffic stop on Royal Palm Beach Blvd. According to a PBSO report, a deputy was conducting surveillance outside a hotel on Royal Palm Beach Blvd. when he observed 36-year-old Marie Ridgeway in a vehicle in possession of several pieces of drug paraphernalia. According to the report, the deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Ridgeway. A search of the vehicle discovered she was in possession of two syringes filled with liquid oxycodone, several food stamp cards and a utility knife. The passenger, 26-year-old Richard Vermillion, was discovered in possession of .6 grams of crack cocaine. Both were arrested and taken to the county jail. Ridgeway was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of public assistance cards and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Vermillion was charged with possession of cocaine.
MAY 20 — A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was dispatched to a home in Royal Ascot Estates last Sunday evening regarding an act of vandalism. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 2:50 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., someone broke several windows on the side and rear of the home. According to the report, the complainant did not notice anything missing from the home, and the deputy believed it was a case of vandalism. The damaged windows were valued at approximately $2,100. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
MAY 20 — A Wellington man was arrested last Sunday afternoon on drug charges following a report of shoplifting at the Walmart Supercenter on Belvedere Road. According to a PBSO report, a loss prevention officer called the Royal Palm Beach substation to report that 18-year-old Matias Ghiragossian was observed shoplifting. According to the report, the officer said that he had fled in a silver Jeep driven by another unknown male. A deputy arrived at the plaza and observed a vehicle with the same tag and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the deputy observed the passenger reach into the glove compartment. Backup deputies arrived on the scene and ordered Ghiragossian and the driver to get out of the car. According to the report, the deputy discovered a black Sabre stun gun and a black brass knuckles knife in the open glove compartment. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy discovered a clear bag containing marijuana, along with a bag containing four marijuana seeds, a marijuana cigarette and a pack of cigarette paper. According to the report, the loss prevention officers identified Ghiragossian as the person who had shoplifted from the store. Ghiragossian was arrested and taken to the county jail, where he was charged with possession of a concealed weapon, marijuana possession and petty theft.
MAY 21 — A Wellington woman called the PBSO substation in Wellington on Monday to report a theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim was shopping at the Walmart Supercenter on Belvedere Road at approximately 9:15 p.m. and accidentally left her designer purse and wallet in a shopping cart in the parking lot. According to the report, the victim drove off, realized the purse was missing and returned to the store to discover that it had been taken from the shopping cart. The victim said that she contacted the store, but no one had turned it in. The stolen items were valued at approximately $230. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
MAY 21 — A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was dispatched to a home on 120th Avenue North on Monday morning regarding an act of vandalism. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 4 p.m. and midnight, someone cut the wires to the victim’s air conditioning unit and moved the air conditioner about 12 feet away from the house. The perpetrator(s) caused approximately $1,000 in damage. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
MAY 21 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched Monday evening to a home on Pierson Road regarding a vehicle theft. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 1 p.m. last Sunday and 5 p.m. the following evening, someone stole a motorcycle from the victim’s barn and fled in an unknown direction. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
