Work Begins On Synthetic Turf Field In The Acreage

Construction began Tuesday, Oct. 7 on the new LTG Sports Turf One synthetic turf field at Acreage Community Park South. “Crews will be working seven days a week on it, weather permitting,” said Kenny Lawrence, parks and recreation director for the Indian Trail Improvement District. The work is scheduled to be completed in late January at a cost of approximately $1.7 million. The money is not coming from district coffers, Lawrence pointed out. It’s coming from the one percent sales surtax passed in 2016 for infrastructure improvements for schools, the county and municipalities. ITID supervisors approved the project in June 2024. At the time, it was noted that LTG’s Turf One fields are used at the training facilities of the University of Miami, the University of Central Florida, Nova Southeastern University, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and more.
