’Twas The Day After Christmas, And Electronics Were Whirring

THE SONIC BOOMER

Twas the day after Christmas,
And all through the house
Ev’ry laptop was stirring
Ev’ry keyboard and mouse.

Ev’ry game board and console,
New cell phones and such,
’Lectronics of all kinds,
(Santa hadn’t skimped much.)

The fam’ly had turkey
To eat, and a ham,
Leftover biscuits
And gravy and jam.

But nobody cared,
Not a soul said, “Let’s eat,”
Game players were winning,
They can’t miss a beat.

Mom got a new fridge,
With a screen on the door,
She programmed schedules
And menus and more.

The man cave ruled dad,
With its video consoles,
He used to stuff food in
His mouth to his tonsils.

No more. Not today. And he
Couldn’t care less.
“Red Dead Redemption”
Made him strong ’n’ fearless.

And sis on her new phone
Had made a new friend
There’s no way she’d hang up
She had to hit “send.”

You’d think that St. Nic’laus,
Up at the North Pole
Would be fast asleep, dreaming.
He’d accomplished his goal.

But the elves had chipped in
And bought him an Xbox,
And Santa just loved it
(His very first tech-box!)

He opened it right
at the end of his rounds,
And his joy knew no limits,
The lights and the sounds!

While Mrs. Claus begged him
To please come to bed
Santa just couldn’t.
“Be right there!” he said.

And he meant to lie down
But loved getting his kicks
Playing Fortnite and Minecraft
And Battlefield 6.

“Next year, electronics
For all!” he declared.
“I must tell the elves!
We must be prepared!”

But the elves were ahead
Of the jolly red fat man.
They had an account
With a comp’ny called Am’zon.

A lot of the stuff he’d
delivered this time
Had not been created
But ordered online.

Elves now have it easy.
Instead of creation,
They order things early
Then go on vacation!

Hope your holidays were calm and bright! Happy New Year from the Sonic Boomer and all the staff at the Town-Crier.
