St. David’s Church Welcomes Matthew Tees As New Rector

Rev. Matthew Tees with his wife Emma, children Madison, Joshua and Michael, and the Right Rev. Peter Eaton, the Episcopal Bishop of Southeast Florida.

St. David’s in the Pines Episcopal Church in Wellington recently welcomed the Rev. Matthew Tees as its new rector.

Tees began his tenure at St. David’s in January. He came to the Wellington church from the bishop’s staff at the Diocese of Long Island, where he has served as executive director of Camp DeWolfe for the past 14 years. He also served as the chair and founding member of EPIC (Episcopalians and Presbyterians in Conversations).

Tees is currently working to complete his doctorate in organizational leadership. He is married to Emma, who is from the United Kingdom, and they have three children, Madison, Joshua and Michael.

“Our search committee was impressed by Father Matt’s calm and caring nature, his experience of overseeing multiple million-dollar projects, and his knowledge of working with young people and children in the church,” said Howard Barrett, senior warden at St. David’s. “He is committed to helping the people of St. David’s stay deeply connected with God and each other, and we believe that his leadership will guide us in our spiritual growth and strengthen our community bonds. He shares our vision and mission: welcoming seekers, forming disciples and sending apostles.”
