The Seminole Ridge High School boys volleyball team is on a roll. The Hawks (21-6) — fresh off winning the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 3A, District 10 tournament title by defeating Palm Beach Central High School (17-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-24) on April 23 — are poised for yet another run to the Class 3A final four.

To get to the final four in Winter Haven, scheduled for May 14-16, the Hawks must defeat three Palm Beach County opponents, since all eight teams in Class 3A, Region 2 are Palm Beach County squads. The Hawks are the top regional seed, which will guarantee them home-court advantage throughout the three rounds of regional play, as long as they continue to win.

Seminole Ridge’s opening opponent was Jupiter High School. That game was played on Thursday, April 30, but the result was not available at press time. The game represented a rematch of a regular season game on March 31, when Seminole Ridge defeated Jupiter (25-18, 25-20, 25-18).

Should they defeat Jupiter, Seminole Ridge’s next opponent in the regional semifinals will, most likely, be Boca Raton High School on Tuesday, May 5. That, too, would be a rematch of a regular season clash on April 14 when Seminole Ridge won (25-22, 25-18, 30-32, 25-14). One projected regional final match would pit Seminole Ridge against second-seeded Spanish River High School. During the regular season, the two teams split their two matches.

Seminole Ridge’s key statistical leaders this season are Michael Deeds with 3.9 kills per set, Evan Holowecky with 712 assists, Pierce Giebenrath with a team-best 373 digs, Riley Jones with the most serving aces with 46, and Jamier Moncur, who leads the team in blocks with 69.
