The Wellington Garden Club recognized seven academic college scholarship recipients at its annual Spring Luncheon on Monday, May 4, at the Wellington National Golf Club. The event had the theme “A Day at the Oscars” with members dressed as movie stars.
Wellington Garden Club Scholarship Chair John Siena and other attendees were honored to recognize the seven worthy recipients for their academic accomplishments. One of the requirements to obtain a scholarship is to major in a field related to earth sciences, such as environmental science, marine science, botany or horticulture.
The three recipients that were present to receive their scholarships were Lilah Lopez, attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College; Danielle Merritt, attending Palm Beach State College; and Jacqueline Silberman, who will attend Broward College.
The recipients that could not attend the luncheon were Alexa Karatzas, attending Duke University; Sophia Carvalho, attending the University of North Florida; Francesca Rodriquez, attending Yale University; and Delia Hartley, attending the University of Florida.
