Western Pines Middle School Teacher Steve Gordon Retires

(L-R) Assistant Principal James Krupa, Principal Philip Preddy, Steve Gordon, Assistant Principal Christy Stuart and Assistant Principal Liz Jimenez celebrate Gordon’s retirement at the Eighth Grade Awards Night.

Western Pines Middle School was honored to celebrate the recent retirement of renowned educator Steve Gordon. His journey in Palm Beach County schools began in March 1988 as a substitute teacher at Crestwood Middle School. He later joined the Sixth Grade Center — then Crestwood Two, later Royal Pines — where he taught until the spring of 1997.

Gordon then became a founding faculty member at Western Pines in the fall of 1997, remaining a cornerstone of the school community through the conclusion of this school year.

Throughout his distinguished career, Gordon shared his expertise in science, math, critical thinking and social studies. The profound impact he has made on his students is immeasurable.

In celebrating his legacy, a common theme emerged from the outpouring of well wishes: the invaluable life lessons seamlessly woven into his curriculum. Gordon’s trademark kindness and dedication to learning beyond the classroom through activities like Memorial Day flag placements, veteran honor flights and Holocaust survivor sessions have all left an indelible mark.

While the school community will miss his daily presence in the classroom, they are thrilled that he will continue to support events at Western Pines and congratulate Gordon on an extraordinary career and a job exceptionally well done.
