The Palm Beach County Food Bank is once again partnering with Florida’s Summer BreakSpot program to help ensure that local children have access to nutritious meals while school is out.
The PBCFB is supporting more than 35 Summer BreakSpot sites across Palm Beach County, helping provide an estimated 5,000 meals daily to approximately 2,500 children throughout the summer months. Each child will receive two free meals per day, including breakfast and lunch or lunch and a snack — doubling the number of meals the food bank distributed through the program compared to last year.
Summer BreakSpot is a statewide program that offers free meals to children and teens 18 and under during summer break when school meals are unavailable. Through the support of the PBCFB and its community partners, local families will once again have access to nutritious meals at no cost throughout the summer.
“With childhood hunger continuing to impact families across Palm Beach County, programs like Summer BreakSpot play a critical role in ensuring that children continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer months,” explained Jamie Kendall, CEO of the Palm Beach County Food Bank. “Thanks to the support of our partners, we are proud to help expand this program and provide even more meals to children across our community this year.”
No applications are required for children to receive meals at participating Summer BreakSpot sites. Families can obtain additional information about meal locations, site schedules and sign up for new text messaging notifications by visiting www.summerbreakspot.org.
