The City of Westlake hosted its third annual 5K event on Saturday, Sept. 12. This year, the event was themed “Remembering 9/11” in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The event supported both local schools and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which honors America’s fallen military heroes and first responders along with their families. The event was open to anyone who wished to run, walk or participate. Awards were presented to the top three overall finishers, as well as winners across various age groups. Everyone who completed the 5K received a medal for their participation.
