The Wellington Garden Club will meet Monday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Wellington Community Center (12150 W. Forest Hill Blvd.). The meeting will feature a presentation by Carol Ralph.
Ralph will discuss a presentation prepared by Mona Johnston from the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. The UF/IFAS Extension is a statewide partnership between federal, state and county governments. Its core purpose is to take the scientific knowledge generated at the university and “extend” it directly to the public to improve daily lives. It acts as a bridge between the university’s research and practical solutions for Florida residents and businesses.
Ralph will cover the importance of stewardship of natural Florida. She will talk about ways to restore Florida’s natural resources. Her presentation will tell how residents can live in a way that ensures that Florida forests, native plants, beaches, water and wildlife remain healthy and thriving long into the future.
Ralph joined the Wellington Garden Club in 2017. Because gardening and protecting Florida’s nature are her passions, she served as president of the club from 2023 to 2025.
Since then, she has been an active member, carrying out numerous leadership roles. She co-chaired the recent Wellington Garden Tour. Ralph was the plant sale coordinator for six years and has also served as the membership data manager.
The public is invited to join the club for coffee and a plant raffle beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visitors are asked to check in at the desk upon arrival. Reserving a spot at the meeting is recommended. For info., contact Membership Chair Anne Hlasnicek at [email protected].
The Wellington Garden Club, founded in 1981, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating its members and the public in the fields of gardening, horticulture, floral design and landscape design; and to promoting conservation of natural resources, civic beautification and youth education.
