Wellington Wrestlers Place Well At AAU National Duals In Orlando

The Wellington Wrestling Club recently competed at the AAU National Duals in Orlando and finished in 23rd place overall, which beat their previous best finish of 29th place from last year.

Seventy teams from around the country competed in the community division this year. Wellington had five individuals who earned All-American honors and took home medals: Joey Grant, gold (10-0); Javier Escoto, bronze (8-2); Jared Abramson, copper (7-3); Christian Goss, copper (7-3); and A.J. Lopez, copper (7-3).

The team competes at the event every year to seek out the best team competition. They fell just short of advancing to the top 15 bracket with a 37-33 loss to Oswego, Ill.
