The American Legion Post 12 18-U baseball team took first place in the Joe Graci Memorial Tournament held in June in Westchester, N.Y. During their trip to New York, the boys also got to see the 9/11 memorial, a New York Yankees baseball game and took a tour of New York City. They also finished in the top 10 out of 80 at the Perfect Game Tournament. The team will compete in the state tournament July 26-29 in Fort Pierce and hopes to compete in the regional tournament set for Aug. 9-13 in Sumter, S.C. Team members are Jacob Aqua, Kevin Aubry, Timothy Becker, Colton Coates, Niko Dellapenna, Mitchel Evelyn, Zach Gerboc, Kaelan Jacobs, David Koos, Brandon Krock, James Lovett, Alex Maxson, Shawn Murray, Kyle Perkins, Austin Spitz, Spencer Stockton, Jared Tosner and Andrew Zipp. The team is coached by head coach Fred Manriquez and assistant coaches Matt Oxendine and Tommy Kirchner.
