With experienced stylists and 32 years in the business, Sam Jon’s Salon is a leader in the salon industry.
The family owned and operated salon has two locations in Palm Beach County: one at the Courtyard Shops in Wellington and one in Downtown at the Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens.
Owner and founder Sam Pedalino opened his first salon in 1982 in New York. He moved to Florida in the late 1980s and relocated his salon to Wellington, where he has operated for the past 23 years.
Pedalino’s son, Nicholas, has continued that legacy by opening the second and newest location in Palm Beach Gardens.
“My son and I co-own that location, and my daughter works out of that salon. She’s one of our top stylists,” Pedalino said. “It’s like a family at our salons, and that is our entire atmosphere here at Sam Jon’s.”
Many of the stylists have been working at the salon for more than two decades. “People feel comfortable here,” Pedalino said. “They don’t want to leave because we treat everyone like family.”
Sam Jon’s prides itself on its impeccable customer service. “We have over 250 set testimonials about our business on our web site, www.samjons.com,” Pedalino said. “Everything — from the way we greet customers at the door by offering them something to drink to the way our stylists shampoo their hair — our clients feel very, very comfortable.”
Sam Jon’s Wellington location caters to its clients’ all-around beauty needs. In addition to the 1,600 square feet of hair salon space, the salon also offers 1,400 square feet of day spa services such as nail care and massages. “We were the first kind of day spa to open up here in Wellington,” Pedalino said.
Each facet of the salon is in a separate area and done by professionals in each field. The hair salon area offers straightening, colors, perms, body waves, adult and kids cuts, and highlights.
“We do pretty much everything, but we do stay away from anything that may be damaging to our clients, and that we have tested,” Pedalino said.
The most important part of what Sam Jon’s stylists do, according to Pedalino, is communication and understanding. “We firmly believe in communication because it’s the key to understanding what the client really wants,” Pedalino said.
Sam Jon’s stylists have full consultations with their clients before they work on their hair to fully determine what their needs and wants are.
“The stylists listen to the clients, and then they say it back to them because what you hear and your perspective may be totally different from what the client is saying,” Pedalino said. “Then they show the client exactly what they’re talking about by demonstrating what the client wants, and explain to them how they will create the look.”
In the day spa area, the salon offers five rooms for massages, facials, waxing and manicure and pedicures.
“We have a certified massage therapist and nail technician who has been with us for 22 years,” Pedalino said. “She does all types of massages and nail designs.”
Sam Jon’s constantly keeps up with all the latest techniques available. “Even though I’ve been in the business for 37 years, I learn something new every day,” Pedalino said.
