Golden Grove Hosts ‘Jump Rope For Heart’

Golden Grove recently hosted its ninth annual Jump Rope for Heart event.

The students jumped at the chance to help fight heart disease and stroke, deadly diseases that have touched the lives of many students and faculty members.

On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, students jumped rope to raise money for the American Heart Association, which funds cardiovascular disease research, as well as public and professional education programs.

Jump Rope for Heart is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Jump Rope for Heart has been teaching kids the importance of a healthy heart for 34 years.

Golden Grove has collected over $89,443 through nine years of participation. This year, the school collected $10,372 in donations for the American Heart Association.

Each child in grades K through 5 participated in the event. They will receive thank you gifts from the American Heart Association. The Physical Education Department will receive a gift certificate from U.S. Games.

The Top 4 Fundraisers were: Luis & Hermione Napoles, $1,000; Isabelle Zullo, $575; and Kaitlyn Barnes, $530.
