The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will be heading to Royal Palm Beach for the Southeast Florida Jr. Shootout on March 23-24.
Held at the Madison Green Golf Club, the event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. National Scouting Report will be on scene to provide players with exposure toward playing at the collegiate level. Winner of the boys and girls 15-18 division and the boys 11-14 division will receive one exemption into a Florida Junior Tour event. Winners of the four age divisions will receive an automatic bid into the 2013 Tour Championship, and top 10 finishers will earn points toward year-end honors as well as all HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup.
The format for the tournament will be two days of 18-hole stroke play, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The event will be a single tee start on both days with tee times Saturday spanning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and tee times Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. Awards will be given to the top three of each age division in addition to a set of Golf Pride grips for the “comeback player of the week” and an EFX Bracelet for each division’s birdie champion. The award ceremony will take place around 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Madison Green Golf Club is one of the top courses in the state. The course is a challenging par-72 sprawled across a long stretch of land. With no fairways on the course running parallel, players will find each hole to be unique.
Players will also be able to enjoy the environment, as native birds such and the blue heron, snowy egret, as well as various hawks enjoy accompanying players and spectators through each round of golf.
Registration for members is $179 and the fee for non-members is $199. Register online at www.hjgt.org.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11 and 18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment.
