Rochester Institute of Technology softball team freshman center fielder Amanda Cook of Royal Palm Beach was named the Liberty League Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 21. It is the first weekly honor of Cook’s career.
Cook has continued her strong play of late, hitting .526 (10-for-19) in six games for RIT with three doubles and two RBIs. Cook had four multiple-hit games during the week with three doubles. She was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs in an 8-0 win over Fredonia. She was 3-for-3 in a loss to RPI and went 4-for-6 and scored both RIT runs in a double header split against Union. She leads the team with a .383 batting average this season.
