Wellington High School 2013 graduate Megan Herrick has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship from the Len Miret Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Herrick will attend Florida State University in the fall. The fund has granted 15 scholarships across three states since its inception in 2008. This is the first award given in Palm Beach County.
Len Miret was a longtime Wellington resident who died of cancer in 2006 at the age of 38. The scholarship commemorates the life and legacy of this family man who was dedicated to the development of young athletes and committed to their success.
The scholarship is awarded annually to qualifying graduating high school senior who have demonstrated academic and athletic accomplishment, community service and financial need. Visit www.miretfund.org for more information.
