Angel Watch Fund Hosts Golf Tourney

Win a free Mercedes-Benz by making a hole-in-one at the inaugural Angel Watch Golf Tournament set for Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 a.m. at the Okeeheelee Golf  Course (7715 Forest Hill Blvd.). The event will be a scramble format with teams of four at $59 per person. Golf cart rental is $10 per cart. In addition to trophies for top winners, there will be a raffle with many interesting items.

With this event, the Angel Watch Fund launches its 2013 fundraising season. The Angel Watch Fund is the fundraising arm of Yes It Can Be Inc., Wellington’s new nonprofit dedicated to the education of parents and friends of alcohol and drug addicts, and to financially assist addicts in obtaining quality treatment for their addiction. The golf tournament also launches the Jeremy D. Platt Memorial Fund, founded by John and Carolyn Platt, who lost their son to his addiction five years ago.

“This is a problem running beneath the radar,” said Robert Sproull, director of the Angel Watch Fund. “We have already identified at least 21 patients at local facilities in imminent danger of having their treatment cut off early when the calendar year rolls over the first of next year. Most people are unaware of the technical difficulties faced with insurance policies and their arbitrary deductible rules.”
