Between Oct. 28 and Nov. 8, Wellington Elementary School participated in the WPTV Channel 5 and Bill Brooks’ Food for Families Drive. The students brought in donations of non-perishable food items, such as canned meat, soups and canned vegetables. There are thousands of people in South Florida for whom hunger is a daily reality. The goal is to make this holiday season plentiful for all. Sally Sue, spokeswoman for the school’s Food for Families drive, was on the WES News every morning encouraging the students to bring in canned goods for the program. Shown here is Sally Sue with Mrs. Mills’ fifth-grade class holding their donations.
