NOV. 26 — A deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office substation in Royal Palm Beach was dispatched to a home on Sparrow Drive last Tuesday night regarding a shooting. According to a PBSO report, the 18-year-old victim is a nephew of the shooter. He decided at approximately 11:15 p.m. to scare his uncle by jiggling the patio door handle. According to the report, the shooter heard the sound and retrieved his rifle before going to investigate the noise. When the victim saw his uncle come out onto the patio, he jumped out to scare him. According to the report, his uncle was startled and discharged the rifle, shooting the victim in his left thigh just above his knee. The victim was transported to Palms West Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
NOV. 22 — An Acreage man was arrested on charges of shoplifting Friday, Nov. 22 after he was caught stealing from the Walgreens pharmacy on Southern Blvd. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach was called to the store after a loss prevention officer observed 44-year-old Bradley Witt select a six-pack of beer and a beef jerky and then conceal the items in his pants. According to the report, Witt then exited the store, passing all points of purchase without attempting to pay for the items. The stolen merchandise was valued at $9.87. Witt got in a yellow Jeep and fled, but video surveillance footage was able to capture the license plate of the vehicle. According to the report, the deputy located Witt at his home. He was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was charged with petty theft.
NOV. 22 — An employee of the Shoma Homes accounting department called the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach on Friday, Nov. 22 to report a case of fraud. According to a PBSO report, sometime between Friday, Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 29, six unknown suspects cashed counterfeit checks from the company. According to the report, the total loss was $2,905.57. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
NOV. 25 — A West Palm Beach man was arrested last Monday afternoon on charges of shoplifting after he was caught stealing from the Walmart Supercenter in Royal Palm Beach. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Royal Palm Beach substation was called to the store at approximately 1 p.m. after a loss prevention officer observed 23-year-old Avelardo Ramirez Lopez enter the shoe department with two boxes of boots in his cart already in shopping bags. The loss prevention officer said Ramirez Lopez then selected a pair of kids shoes and concealed them in the Walmart shopping bag. According to the report, he then exited the shoe aisle and removed the bags from his cart, then made his way toward the front of the store and exited without attempting to pay for the items. A loss prevention officer stopped him and asked for a receipt for the shoes. When Ramirez Lopez could not produce one, the officer recovered the shoes, valued at $77.59. Ramirez Lopez was arrested and taken to the county jail where he was charged with petty theft.
DEC. 2 — A resident of Sugar Pond Manor called the PBSO substation in Wellington early Monday morning to report a stolen vehicle. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 10 p.m. last Sunday and 6:15 a.m. the following morning, someone stole the victim’s silver 2005 Nissan Quest from her driveway. The victim believed a spare key was taken from another vehicle, which was left unlocked on the driveway. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
DEC. 2 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was called to the Versailles community Monday regarding a case of fraud. According to a PBSO report, the victim discovered last Tuesday that $5,000 was transferred from her bank account to an investment account opened in her name in Miami without her knowledge. The victim said a similar incident had occurred before. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
DEC. 2 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was called to a restaurant on South Shore Blvd. on Monday morning regarding a theft. According to a PBSO report, an employee called the Wellington substation after she discovered two laptops missing from the office. The employee said her boss left the restaurant atapproximately 1:45 a.m. Monday morning. When she went into his office to get a check at approximately 10:30 a.m., she noticed that a 13.3-inch silver Macbook Pro and a 17-inch black Macbook Pro were missing. According to the report, the office was left unlocked and anyone could have gained access. The stolen items were valued at approximately $4,200. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
DEC. 2 — A Wellington teenager was arrested Monday evening on charges of shoplifting after she was caught stealing from the Walgreens pharmacy on Wellington Trace. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Wellington substation responded to the store after an employee observed the teenage girl select eye makeup, a Sandisk SD card and a set of JVC headphones and attempt to exit the store. The juvenile was stopped, and the merchandise, which totaled $58.79, was returned. The juvenile was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center where she was charged with retail theft.
