Seniors Stay Active And Have Fun At Sunrise Adult Day Care

If you have an elderly loved one or family member who needs some daytime care, attention, fun and activities while you are out working or managing your day, Sunrise Adult Day Care might be just the place you’re looking for. Sunrise accepts seniors experiencing a decrease in their social, physical and mental functioning, including patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Sunrise programs include mental and physical activities in a protective environment. The facility also provides meals specific to restricted diets, assistance with medication, personalized care and transportation arrangements, if needed.

Sunrise Adult Day Care is located at 6623 Forest Hill Blvd. It is run by Surinder “Sam” Zutshi, the founder and honorary president, and Vice President Sandy Mistry. Mistry brings 25 years of experience in the South Florida medical field. As a medical technologist, she worked with Jupiter Internal Medicine Group for 17 years, the Palm Beach Institute of Hematology & Oncology for more than four years and currently works at JFK Medical Center.

As her parents’ health was failing, Mistry noticed that their quality of life was declining as they sat at home and watched television all day. After they passed away, she decided to make sure others do not suffer the same decline in quality of life.

Sunrise Adult Day Care is dedicated to Mistry’s mother and was created for seniors so that they will have the opportunity to enjoy a good quality of life in their golden years.

“In my 25 years of being in the healthcare profession, the Sunrise Adult Day Care mission is my proudest endeavor,” Mistry said. “I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Sam Zutshi. It was his expertise and diligence that saw Sunrise Adult Day Care to completion. Mr. Zutshi had the vision, and the energy and care he gave to the mission was boundless.”

Zutshi, a noted human rights activist, is the former editor/publisher of the Asia Observer, a weekly newspaper, and Kashmir Today magazine. “My passion was to work with seniors, so I wanted to help Sandy to establish this place,” he said.

Having an active senior life is possible with all the healthy activities available at Sunrise, which operates from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Activities include table games, music, bingo, laughing yoga, exercising, beauty days, computer lessons, field trips and more. Medicaid covered seniors are welcome.
