JAN. 4 — A deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was called to the scene of a fire on Southern Blvd. last Saturday night. According to a PBSO report, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a vehicle caught on fire on Southern Blvd. between Palms West Hospital and F Road. According to the report, when the deputy arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue was attempting to put it out. A witness told the deputy that he was exiting Palms West Hospital when he heard a loud bang. According to the report, the witness said he observed an unknown male walking away from the vehicle carrying a jug. He said the suspect got in a white vehicle resembling a Nissan Quest and fled. According to the report, the suspect is described as an Hispanic male, approximately 5’7” and weighing 140 lbs. wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
DEC. 29 — A resident of Royal Pine Estates called the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach on Sunday, Dec. 29 regarding a theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim noticed last July that her wedding and engagement rings had been stolen from her home. On Sunday, Dec. 29, the victim went to a pawn shop on Okeechobee Blvd. and believes she located her rings. According to the report, the victim said there was a similar engraving on the rings, but she could not be sure they were hers. The stolen rings were valued at approximately $4,000. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
DEC. 29 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach was called Sunday, Dec. 29 to the Homegoods store on Southern Blvd. regarding a theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim was in the store shopping at approximately 5:42 p.m. when an unknown Hispanic male asked her a question. The victim turned toward the man, and when she turned back, her wallet was missing from her purse. According to the report, the victim believed someone else stole the wallet from her purse, but she had not seen another person at that time. The victim’s wallet contained her driver’s license, bank card and credit cards. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
DEC. 30 — A resident of La Mancha Avenue called the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach on Monday, Dec. 30 to report a burglary in progress. According to a PBSO report, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a witness observed an unknown black male suspect exit from the rear of the victim’s home and enter a gold Jeep being driven by an unknown black female suspect. According to the report, the Jeep fled the area. When the deputy arrived at the home, he observed that the suspects attempted to gain entry through the rear garage door but were unsuccessful because of an alarm that was activated. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
DEC. 30 — A Port St. Lucie woman was arrested Monday, Dec. 30 on charges of theft after she was caught stealing from the Super Target store on Okeechobee Blvd. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Royal Palm Beach substation was dispatched to the store on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 30 after an employee was caught stealing from the store. The employee was identified as 54-year-old Kathleen Carlson. According to a PBSO report, the company claimed Carlson loaded $100 onto a Visa gift card without paying for it. Carlson was arrested and issued a notice to appear in court.
JAN. 4 — A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was called to the Burger King on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road last Saturday afternoon regarding a theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim was eating at the restaurant at approximately noon when she placed her purse hanging off the back of the chair. The victim left the restaurant and realized she did not have her purse. According to the report, the victim returned to the restaurant, but the purse was missing. The victim’s purse contained $400 cash, a bank card, checks, credit cards and her driver’s license. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
JAN. 4 — A Royal Palm Beach man was arrested last Saturday afternoon on charges of shoplifting after he was discovered to have stolen from the Sunglasses Hut store inside the Mall at Wellington Green. According to a PBSO report, 22-year-old Edwin Morlu stole a pair of black Clubmaster sunglasses with green lenses valued at $244.95 from the store on Sunday, Jan. 1. Morlu returned last Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. to exchange the stolen glasses for another color. According to the report, the manager recognized him and contacted the PBSO substation in Wellington. Morlu was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail where he was charged with retail theft.
JAN. 4 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched Monday afternoon to a farm on Pierson Road regarding a case of vandalism. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, someone attempted to force open the gate to the farm, causing approximately $500 in damage. The deputy did not believe the perpetrator(s) gained access to the farm. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
JAN. 4 — A resident of 41st Court North contacted the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation last Saturday evening to report a stolen vehicle. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., someone stole the victim’s homemade trailer from his property. The victim said the trailer’s tires were disintegrated and the trailer would have to be dragged off the property. According to the report, the victim said several weeks ago an unknown person came to his house and asked if the trailer was for sale. The deputy observed marks where it appeared the trailer had been dragged. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
JAN. 4 — An employee of Starbucks in the Mall at Wellington Green called the PBSO substation in Wellington last Saturday to report a theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim left his Apple iPhone 4 on a table at approximately 9 p.m. when the store was closing. The victim was cleaning tables and later noticed his phone was missing. The stolen phone was valued at approximately $200. According to the report, the victim used the GPS feature on his phone to trace it to a home nearby, but there was no further information available at the time of the report.
