Seminole Ridge Boys Basketball Falls To Jupiter 60-21

BY GENE NARDI

The Seminole Ridge High School boys varsity basketball team hosted Jupiter High School in a district match-up Friday, Jan. 17 and fell to the Warriors 60-21.

The Hawks never established a rhythm during the game and trailed by as much as 16 points during the first half. Jupiter jumped out to a quick 7-point lead and had 12 points on the board before the Hawks finally scored with a 3-point basket by Thomas Hollandsworth.

The Hawks (1-15) closed the gap and came within 7 points, but Jupiter won several rebounds to add to their lead and closed out the first half 29-11.

Seminole Ridge started the second half stuttering with possession, turning the ball over five times in the third quarter.

By the end of the quarter, the Warriors had more than doubled their lead over the Hawks and eventually put the game out of reach, winning the contest 60-21.

Jupiter limited the Hawks to just 11 points in the second half. Seminole Ridge tried to battle back but found it difficult to put consistent pressure on the Warrior defense.

Hollandsworth and Pleasant combined for 11 points for the Hawks, and Hollandsworth is credited with a 3-pointer.

The Hawks had back-to-back road games against Palm Beach Central and Glades Central high schools on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 23, but results were not available at press time.

Seminole Ridge travels to Pahokee High School on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a 7:30 p.m. game.
