JAN. 31 — A woman died last Friday afternoon after a fall from a horse at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington.
According to a PBSO report, 52-year-old Anne Heyman was competing when she became dislodged from the horse after a jump. Heyman fell off the left side of the horse, and witnesses said she struck the back of her head.
Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue was on scene at the show grounds and responded immediately, but Heyman was unconscious. She was taken by Trauma Hawk to Delray Beach Medical Center, where doctors performed emergency surgery.
According to the report, Heyman went into cardiac arrest during the surgery and was pronounced dead at 1:39 p.m.
