New Horizons Elementary School students were recently awarded ribbons at the District Science and Math Fair. Winning first place in the class category was Gwen Lyons’ kindergarten class and Mary Genovese’s second-grade class for their math projects, as well as Deb Hansen’s second-grade class for its science project. Additionally, second-grade student David Romero won first place for his science project, “Effect of bleach or water on plant growth.” Third grade gifted students won second place for their science project, “Left Handed vs. Right Handed.” Third-grade student Lindsey Silverstone was awarded honorable mention for her math project comparing favorite donuts flavors.
