Red Ribbon Week took place at Wellington Elementary School from Oct. 27 through Oct. 31.
Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign focused on “Just Say No To Drugs.” On Tuesday, staff and students wore red headbands or sweat bands. On Wednesday, they wore red, and on Thursday, it was Crazy Sock Day.
Doors were decorated in support of the week. “Just Say No” was initiated by Nancy Reagan, while her husband was president. It was a campaign created as part of the United States “War on Drugs.”
The campaign tries to encourage children from engaging in illegal recreational drug use by offering various ways of saying “no.” Wellington Elementary School was proud to participate in this national effort to “Just Say No To Drugs.”
