On Sunday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m., the Core Ensemble with actor Jamyl Dobson will offer a free performance of the music theatre work Of Ebony Embers: Vignettes of the Harlem Renaissance at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Lake Worth. The show is presented jointly by the Lake Worth Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, the Kiwanis Club, the Lake Worth Interfaith Network and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Of Ebony Embers celebrates the music and poetry of African-Americans in New York City during the 1920s. The score is drawn from the heartfelt spirituals and blues of the Deep South, the urban vitality of the Jazz Age and contemporary concert music.
