Whole Foods To Host Fundraiser For Forgotten Soldiers Outreach

For the fourth consecutive year, Whole Foods Market stores will host a Memorial Day weekend fundraiser to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the U.S. military through Forgotten Soldiers Outreach.

The Wellington store, located at 2635 S. State Road 7, will host the Support Our Troops Cookout on Saturday, May 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cookouts will also be held this weekend at Whole Foods Market stores in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Boca Raton and Coral Springs.

During the cookout, customers can enjoy a hamburger, hotdog or vegetarian burger with choice of side and a drink for a donation of $5. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach.

Customers will be invited to write letters of encouragement to the troops or donate toiletries or other items to be included in care packages, which will then be sent to U.S. soldiers serving overseas.

“We’ve been proud to partner over the years with such a wonderful organization as Whole Foods Market. It’s truly a way to support our troops,” said Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar, founder and executive director of Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. “Our sole mission is to reach out to those troops who receive little to no support from the home front, and many of them are from our own back yards.”

Created in 2003, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach is a nonprofit organization that ships care packages filled with donated items and letters to the men and women of the U.S. military serving overseas.

Since its inception, Forgotten Soldiers has delivered care packages to more than 350,000 U.S. troops worldwide serving in all branches of the military.
