Emerald Cove Middle School sixth-grade students in Jennifer White’s physical education classes recently completed the 13-week Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) program. School Resource Officer Michael Conway taught the program. The GREAT program helps Conway to work collaboratively with the students, teaching life skills to prevent violence and criminal activity. The primary objective of the program is prevention. During the 13 weeks, students are given opportunities to model and practice relevant life skills. On Monday, June 1, 52 students graduated from the program and pledged to be leaders in their school and community to help solve problems.
