Sign Up For CodeRed Notifications

The Village of Wellington encourages residents to sign up for its CodeRed Emergency Notification System, a high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications.

The system allows village staff to call targeted areas of Wellington in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action, such as severe weather, evacuations and boil-water notices.

The system is capable of dialing 60,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers a pre-recorded message describing the situation and possibly including instructions requiring action on the part of the recipient. Once the situation is remedied, another call will be placed signaling that the issue has been addressed.

In addition to receiving a phone call, residents can elect to receive notifications via e-mail, text message or the CodeRed Mobile Alert app available to iPhone and Android users. The app is geo-aware and will send a notification to the subscriber if an alert is issued for their specific location.
