Florida Trail Association activity leader Scott Lunsford will be hosting another beginner’s backpacking hike in January. Registration is required due to limited space.
On Saturday, Jan. 16 at 8:30 a.m., Lunsford and co-activity leader Mary Miller will head out into the DuPuis Management Area (23500 SW Kanner Highway, Canal Point) for a night under the stars.
The team will backpack into the wilderness 7 miles to a primitive campsite on Saturday and back to the vehicles 7.5 miles on Sunday. A great buffet lunch at the Seminole Inn in Indiantown is planned on Sunday, but the hikers have to get there by 1:30 p.m., so expect to get up and get going on Sunday.
