For the last seven years, Jim Sims and his congregation, which relaunched last year as Connect Church West, have sponsored a free community Easter Egg Hunt at Acreage Community Park the Sunday before Easter. The event will return this year on Sunday, March 20 with registration beginning at 12:30 p.m.
“We want to provide a safe and fun environment for families to come and enjoy a day at the park,” Sims said. “It also gives us a chance to connect with our community.”
The event is open to families of all age-groups, with the egg hunt itself separated into four age categories (ages 0 to 3, ages 4 and 5, grades 1 through 3, and grades 4 and 5) with several thousand eggs between them. Among the many volunteer groups involved in the event are Berean Christian School, several Palm Beach Atlantic University sports teams, a local Girl Scout troop and First Baptist Church of Royal Palm Beach.
“People can expect a fun day at the park with lots of smiling faces and a great egg hunt with food, games, several bounce houses, face painting, and lots of eggs,” Sims said.
