SRHS Biotech Teachers Spend Summer Break Working At Wellington Regional

Seminole Ridge High School Biotechnology Academy teachers Ashley Rawls and Margarette Marturano “externed” at Wellington Regional Medical Center this summer in a month-long work experience — Marturano in the hospital lab with the pathologist and Rawls with an infection control doctor.

“The experience will allow me to take real-world lab skills back to the classroom. In particular, I learned that my emphasizing accuracy, teamwork and quality control is necessary for my students to develop 21st-century skills,” Marturano said.

In other biotech news, academy teacher Lyn Slygh will attend the annual Research Teacher Conference in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the Society for Science & the Public.
