On Wednesday, May 10, Wellington Elementary School participated in Bike to School Day. The staff, students and families joined children and adults around the nation to celebrate the benefits of bicycling and walking. Wellington Village Mayor Anne Gerwig joined in by riding her bike with the group. Principal Dr. Maria Vaughan led the group to the school. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies were there to help with traffic and speak with the children about the importance of wearing a helmet. The riders met at Temple Beth Torah and rode to the school together. When the bikers reached the school, they were given a prize and a cold drink. Shown above, the bikers and walkers begin their journey.
