The Young Singers of the Palm Beaches’ Encore Choir will be performing this weekend at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown West Palm Beach.
The Young Singers group is honored to be singing the National Anthem at the Meyer Amphitheatre prior to the start of the race, and will also be singing multiple numbers including “Stronger” and “Thankful” during the survivor dedication. The festivities take place on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The specialized choral group is comprised of middle school-aged boys and girls with advanced voices. Encore Choir Conductor Erica Barnes was thankful for the opportunity.
“So many of our lives have been touched by breast cancer, and I am proud to participate through song in honor of my grandmother, Camille,” Barnes said. “The year after she passed, I had the privilege of singing ‘Hero’ here at the Komen, now to be leading a choir of students as they sing, it’s an honor that touches my heart. She was a strong-willed survivor for many years, and I know she will be looking upon us with joy.”
