The King’s Academy recently announced the hiring of Warren Bottke and Sherri Pla as the school’s new head golf coaches.
Warren Bottke, a PGA Master Professional, is widely known as a golf instructor to leading tour professionals, amateurs, nationally ranked juniors and high-profile athletes. For the last 42 years, he has taught and directed golf camps, successful large-scale tournaments and instructional clinics for corporate and nonprofit organizations. Among Bottke’s accomplishments is Golf Digest’s Florida Top Golf Instructor, the 2005 National PGA Horton Smith Award winner and a Travel & Leisure Top 40 PGA Instructor. Bottke also makes guest instructor appearances on the Golf Channel Golf Academy.
Pla is a native of Riviera Beach and the Head PGA Class A Pro at the Sandhill Crane Country Club. After a stellar high school career, she attended Florida Atlantic University on a basketball scholarship. Her impressive stats included scoring more than 1,000 points and garnered her a position in the FAU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009. As an all-around athlete, not only did she succeed in basketball, but dominated in softball, cross country and golf. Pla’s reputation as a positive motivator of skill and attitude in the golf world earned her a nomination into the African-American Golf Hall of Fame in 2015 and named the AAG Inaugural Golf Instructor of the Year.
