Unite For Justice Rally Draws Protesters To Wellington

On Sunday, Aug. 26, approximately 120 protesters gathered for a Unite For Justice rally at the Wellington Patriot Memorial. The event was organized by Mark Offerman of Wellington and his activist group, United+. The event was one of many across the nation staged with the support of MoveOn.org to oppose the appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. At the event, Arlene Ustin of the Palm Beach County National Organization for Women addressed the crowd on the subject of women’s rights and concerns that Roe v. Wade might be overturned. Gregg Weiss, who won election to the Palm Beach County Commission this week, spoke about how national issues affect the local area. Rabbi Barry Silver of Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor spoke on behalf of the Interfaith Justice League. His son, Ari, 16, also addressed the crowd on the subject of gun violence. Cecilia St. King performed several songs.
