Acreage resident Sofia Stephens successfully competed in the TOPs National Testing held in Indianapolis from Oct. 5 to Oct. 7.
After qualifying through a statewide selection process conducted over the summer, Stephens joined approximately 300 top-scoring gymnasts ages 8 through 10 from 40 different states.
Once in Indianapolis, she was rigorously evaluated for gymnastics skills and physical abilities. At stake was a December national training camp invitation and the opportunity to learn from the USA Gymnastics national team coaching staff.
“I had a great two days of testing, but so did a lot of girls. It’s very competitive. I’m excited about going to camp and doing my best,” Stephens said.
