The Wellington Wrestling Club recently competed at the USAW FAWA Freestyle & Greco State Championships at Osceola High School with a chance to qualify to travel with Team Florida to the nationals.
Seventh grader Sam Marvel earned honors in both wrestling styles, becoming the freestyle state champion at 14U, 110 pounds, and the Greco state runner-up.
The top three wrestlers at each weight class qualify to move on to the national level.
Fourth grader Tyler Gray finished in fourth place in both styles, and three others finished one match away from moving on to their third-place matches.
