The grand opening events of the new Sprouts supermarket location in Jupiter last week featured a presentation by Royal Palm Beach resident and dietitian Zoraime Ramos Cortes, who provided a free healthy cooking demonstration.
Attendees received a sneak preview of the new store, as well as a complimentary Sprouts reusable shopping bag, a Sprouts brand product and three of the seasonal recipes that Ramos Cortes prepared, including vegan/gluten-free pumpkin pie chia oats; vegan/gluten-free roasted vegetable and apple salad with citrus vinaigrette and toasted walnuts and pepitas; and butternut squash and black bean quesadillas with avocado Greek yogurt crema.
Ramos Cortes is a registered dietitian and nutritionist. She currently works for the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County as a WIC public health nutritionist supervisor, where she manages the largest WIC clinic in the county.
Ramos Cortes entered the nutrition profession after discovering that she could merge her love of helping people with her love for food. She believes in the importance of nutrition as the base of all healthcare and strives to impart a proactive approach to overall health and well-being.
Sprouts opened on State Road 7 in Wellington this past spring, and the supermarket chain plans to continue to expand throughout Florida.
