2021 South Florida Fair Theme To Celebrate The Earth

The South Florida Fair chose Earth Day to announce the 2021 South Florida Fair theme of “Our Earth Matters.”

Today, April 22, marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and the fair has decided to emphasize the importance of this special day and the planet by declaring “Our Earth Matters” as the 2021 theme. The 2021 South Florida Fair will be held Jan. 15–31.

“Every year, we look to implement new changes to ‘green’ our fair and facility,” South Florida Fair President & CEO Vicki Chouris said. “Last year, the fair recycled cardboard, asked the vendors to eliminate plastic, including straws and other service items, and worked with Tellus Products in Belle Glade, which converts leftover sugarcane fiber into disposable tableware, such as containers, plates and bowls.”

Since 1993, the themed expositions produced every year during the South Florida Fair are one of the most popular attractions of the 17-day event.

The 2021 annual event featuring the “Our Earth Matters” themed exposition will be even more “green” to show visitors that small changes in how we live can make a huge impact on our earth.

These efforts will be complemented with activities, entertainment, interactive and educational exhibits about climate change, green initiatives, endangered species, protection of the environment, clean air, water conservation and more.

Meanwhile, the fair is joining Palm Beach County for a virtual Earth Day celebration.

Since 1970, Earth Day has increased awareness of the planet and encouraged people to learn more about pollution, climate change, endangered species and other environmental issues. More than a billion people in 193 countries now participate in Earth Day activities each year.

“We are looking forward to working with various organizations to bring more awareness to our planet and its environmental concerns, starting with Earth Day,” Chouris said.

The fair is teaming up with 25 Palm Beach County nonprofit, educational and governmental agencies that are part of RISE — Resources In Science Education — for a virtual celebration. Each organization is presenting at least one Earth Day activity, as well as a list of resources, including virtual tours. The fair is offering instructions on how to make a living seed necklace, an activity that will teach participants about germination.

All activities are included in the Palm Beach County Earth Day Activity Guide.
