The Village of Wellington was recognized this month for winning the large community Read for the Record award for the most readers taking part in this year’s competition.
Literacy Coalition CEO Kristin Calder visited the Tuesday, Dec. 8 meeting of the Wellington Village Council to present the award — a basket of books for the community — for reaching the most students during the October virtual reading of the book Evelyn Del Ray Is Moving Away.
“This year, it was based not just on quantity because of COVID-19 but also on quality of the presentation,” Calder explained, adding that Wellington’s staff members rose to the occasion with outside-the-box thinking. “There were so many unique and clever ways that Wellington presented the material.”
