Local high school student Derek Collins has been recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist. He is one of four seniors from Park Vista High School in Lake Worth who have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
This prestigious award is given to high-aptitude students who obtain a high PSAT score in 11th grade. Semifinalists have the opportunity to continue in the competition to become finalists and receive various scholarships worth nearly $26 million.
Collins has been operating a free college preparatory resources program for high school students called “Elevate Your Aptitude.”
