JAN. 10 — A Royal Palm Beach man was arrested last Thursday on charges of drug possession and obstruction of justice following an incident on Misty Lane. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Royal Palm Beach substation was conducting a traffic stop at approximately 11:11 p.m. in front of a home on Misty Lane. The deputy called for backup after 22-year-old Jenard Govan came out of the home and began yelling at the deputy. A second deputy arrived on scene and made contact with Govan, asking him to refrain from yelling. According to the report, Govan told the deputy he was on his own property and then placed his hand into his sweater pocket, which had a bulge. The deputy said he was worried Govan might have a weapon and held Govan’s hand in place while patting him down. According to the report, the search revealed Govan had a glass pipe with cocaine residue on it in his pocket. Govan was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was charged with possession of cocaine, drug equipment possession and obstructing an officer.
JAN. 11 — Two West Palm Beach men were arrested early last Wednesday morning on drug charges after they were stopped for racing on Southern Blvd. near State Road 7. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Royal Palm Beach substation was on patrol on Southern Blvd. at approximately midnight when he heard several cars racing from Lamstein Lane eastbound on Southern Blvd. According to the report, the deputy was using radar and observed between eight and 10 cars traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy engaged the radar on the front three cars and discovered they were traveling between 97 and 98 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone. The deputy pulled behind the vehicles, causing them to split up. According to the report, the deputy chose to follow some of the vehicles onto the off ramp at SR 7. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on a white Acura Integra, which attempted to accelerate away from the deputy, passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed and weaving between lanes. The vehicle eventually stopped on SR 7, and the deputy made contact with the driver, 24-year-old Jason Prieto, and his passenger, 20-year-old Adner Carrion. According to the report, the deputy could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a clear plastic bag with 4 grams of marijuana in the passenger-side door pocket, as well as a bag containing marijuana residue and rolling papers in the driver’s-side door pocket. Prieto and Carrion were both placed under arrest and taken to the county jail. During a search at the jail, Prieto was discovered to have a hydrocodone pill in his pocket. Prieto was charged with reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug equipment and smuggling contraband into a detention facility. Carrion was charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams.
JAN. 14 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched Monday to a home in the Lakeside Shores community regarding a residential burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. someone shattered the victim’s side window to gain entry to the home, stealing several pieces of jewelry and a Miami Dolphins jacket. The stolen items were valued at $250. According to the report, the deputy was able to pull a fingerprint from the sliding glass door handle, suggesting that the perpetrator(s) attempted to enter the home that way before breaking the window. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
JAN. 15 — An employee of Grandma’s Pizza on Belvedere Road contacted the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach on Tuesday to report a delayed case of fraud. According to a PBSO report, sometime last weekend, someone used two counterfeit $10 bills and three counterfeit $5 bills to make purchases at the restaurant. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
JAN. 15 — A Wellington resident called the PBSO substation in Wellington on Tuesday afternoon to report a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, the victim parked her vehicle outside a gym in the Wellington Marketplace at approximately 3:10 p.m. When she returned 20 minutes later, she discovered that someone had broken a window and reached inside, grabbing her designer purse from a gym bag. According to the report, the purse contained her designer wallet, driver’s license, credit cards and gift cards. The stolen items were valued at approximately $315. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
JAN. 15 — A deputy from the PBSO substation was dispatched Tuesday to the Village Shoppes on State Road 7 regarding a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, a witness called the Royal Palm Beach substation after observing an unknown man lurking near a Saturn Vue parked in the parking lot. According to the report, the suspect fled when he observed the witness. The deputy approached the vehicle and discovered that the front passenger-side window had been shattered but was held in place by the window tint. According to the report, the deputy made contact with the victim, who said she left her purse in the vehicle. The purse was not taken, and the deputy did not believe the suspect was able to make entry. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-9 with a thin build, wearing a black sleeveless shirt and dark sweat pants. There was no further information available at the time of the report.
JAN. 15 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched Tuesday evening to the Pointe at Wellington Green regarding a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, the victim parked her vehicle outside LA Fitness at approximately 6:45 p.m., leaving her purse under the driver’s seat. When she returned at approximately 8:20 p.m., she discovered that someone had smashed out her driver-side window and stolen the bag, which contained two passports and a credit card. The stolen items were valued at approximately $160. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
