Wellington will offer a variety of programs for adults ages 55 and older this month at the Wellington Community Center, located at 12150 W. Forest Hill Blvd. Pre-registration is required for all activities at least 48 hours in advance.
• Wii Games — Video games aren’t just for kids! Come see why they are so popular and get your daily exercise at the same time with a free Wii class on Thursday, April 18 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wii takes place on the first and third Thursday of each month. Seniors are invited to come to learn and play, or to bring your own games and teach their peers.
• Morselife — Morselife is dedicated to enhancing senior living, and each month the professionals host a new life enhancing presentation. April’s presentation will take place on Monday, April 8 from noon to 2 p.m., and the topic will be a book review of War Brides by Helen Bryan. A light lunch will be provided to those who pre-register.
• Futurity First — Futurity First will be at the Wellington Community Center on Tuesday, April 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. and will present a seminar entitled “Legacy Planning.” Futurity First is a network of agents and advisors specializing in the financial security and retirement needs of middle income families and business owners. The company’s mission is to offer objective, needs-based, solution-focused planning techniques. Light refreshments will be served to those who pre-register.
• Bingo — Join in Wednesday, April 10 for an exciting afternoon of food, fun and bingo with prizes sponsored by Humana. Doors open at 11:45 a.m., lunch begins at noon and bingo kicks off at 1 p.m. Bingo is the second Wednesday of each month, and the cost to play is $3. You can add a boxed lunch for an additional $5. To guarantee a lunch, participants must order by calling (561) 784-2484 by noon on Monday, April 8.
• Good Samaritan Medical Center — On Tuesday, April 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Good Samaritan Medical Center will continue its “Caring for You” educational Lunch & Learn Seminar. April’s topic will be “A Trip to the ER” presented by Good Samaritan professionals. Lunch will be provided to those who pre-register.
• Wellington Regional Medical Center — Dr. Faris Fakhoury, a board-certified neurosurgeon, will make a presentation at the Wellington Community Center on Thursday, April 18 from noon to 2 p.m. on “Neck Pain Management.” Lunch will be provided to those who pre-register.
• AARP Driver Safety — Join Mary Lynn Blakely on Thursday, April 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to refresh your driving skills. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers, which must be paid by check to the instructor on the day of the class. Attendees should prepare for the day by bringing water, lunch and snacks.
• Shalloway & Shalloway — Stop by the Wellington Community Center on Wednesday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to noon. as Wellington welcomes elder law and special needs trust attorney Mark Shalloway. As an accredited V.A. attorney, he will be speaking about protecting your assets and getting the best long-term care at home, in an assisted living facility or in a nursing home. By taking advantage of this great information, attendees will discover how veterans, spouses, widows and disabled children could qualify for $13,128 to $24,228 a year, tax-free.
• Senior Aerobics — Stay in shape with Lynn Spoor’s Senior Aerobics classes, offered monthly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The cost is $40 per month for Wellington residents and $50 for nonresidents.
• Needlecraft — If you like to get crafty, join Iris Goldson every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. to learn new needlecraft techniques. This class is free and all skill levels are welcome.
