A family fun day to benefit the family of Pedro Sanchez will be held Saturday, April 27 from noon to 5 p.m. at the BMX track at Okeeheelee Park. It is open to the public.
The aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaac last August left Sanchez, a husband and father, fighting for his life. After the storm, streets were flooded and people were left stranded. Sanchez, a 1994 Wellington High School graduate, ventured out on his airboat. However, the airboat malfunctioned, and he violently crashed.
Sanchez suffered major head trauma and spent numerous nights fighting for his life at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Today, he is fighting hard in rehab at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, one of the top hospitals for traumatic brain injuries. Charlotte, his high school sweetheart, has not left his side. Family and friends (Team Pedro), have come together to help the family with their medical and home expenses.
This fun-filled event will feature music and food, bounce houses, face painting, activities for children of all ages, a corn hole tournament, the Home Depot kids shop and a chance to ride on the BMX track. Admission is $10, and kids 12 and under are admitted free. The event will offer silent auctions, 50/50 chance and raffles to help raise money. All monetary donations can be accepted at www.teampedro.myevent.com. Raffle items should be sent to: Alina Hoge, c/o Sanchez Family, 11953 Donlin Drive, Wellington, FL 33414.
