Members of the Seminole Ridge High School chapter of the National Honor Society took part in a roadside cleanup of Okeechobee Blvd. from Royal Palm Beach Elementary School to Loxahatchee Groves Elementary School on April 13.
The weather cooperated for the participants, who pitched in to help wherever asked to. Students, gloved and carrying trash bags, spent the morning collecting roadside litter and loading up their “three bags full” to be taken away.
Steppers Take Glades Silver — Congratulations to the members of the SRHS stepdancing team — Agnecia Jabouin, Cache Johnson, Taleah Morris and Bri Wallace — on their outstanding performance, which earned them second place on April 13 at the Breaking the Stage competition in Belle Glade.
“The ladies showed poise, showmanship and are to be commended on their good sportsmanship,” said step coach Jakima Miller. “They represented us well.”
Biotech Teams Place in eCybermission Competition — Two freshman teams from the SRHS biotechnology academy have placed in the 2013 national eCybermission competition, sponsored by the U.S. military.
Team Potato — Jamie Chase, Hanna McLeod and Kylie Parrish — compared the effect of chemical and organic fertilizers on radish seeds grown using hydroponics. They placed first in the state and ranked among the regional top four. Each student on the team won a $1,000 savings bond.
The BiOTeC Crew — Jake Allen, Matthew Alvarez and William Garland — placed second in the state and each won a $500 savings bond.
