Palm Beach Atlantic University Provost & Chief Academic Officer Dr. Joseph A. Kloba recently announced that Dr. Leslie Turner, professor of accounting, has been appointed dean of the Rinker School of Business.
“Dr. Turner is a man of deep personal faith,” Kloba said. “He has garnered the support of his faculty and staff colleagues both in the school and throughout the campus with his humble spirit and clear style of communication.”
Turner came to Palm Beach Atlantic in August 2008 and has served as interim dean of the Rinker School of Business since June 2010. Prior to coming to the university, Turner was professor and chair of the Department of Accountancy at Northern Kentucky University for four years, where he taught for 16 years prior to his appointment as chair. He also taught at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Turner has published 18 peer-reviewed articles in accounting journals such as Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting Case Studies, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and Journal of Management Accounting Research and Strategic Finance. Two of his articles were awarded a certificate of merit by the Institute of Management Accountants. He has made several presentations at national and state accounting conferences. Turner is the co-author of an accounting information systems textbook published by John Wiley & Sons. He is a certified management accountant and a certified financial manager, and is a member of the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
He and his wife, Theresa, are active members of West Pines Baptist Church in Greenacres.
