Navy Midshipman Thomas D. Martin, son of Tonia and Thomas Martin of Loxahatchee, recently completed Plebe Summer at the U.S. Navy Academy.
Plebe Summer prepares officer candidates for their first academic year at the academy and the four years leading to graduation and commissioning as a Navy or Marine Corps officer.
Activities include swimming, martial arts, rock climbing, obstacle, endurance and confidence courses, as well infantry drill.
Throughout the summer, new midshipmen rapidly gain general knowledge of seamanship, navigation, damage control, sailing and handling yard-patrol craft, as well as the use of 9mm pistols and M-16 rifles.
Martin is a 2013 graduate of the King’s Academy.
