Rotary Completes School Dictionary Project

The Rotary Club of Wellington completed its annual dictionary program as part of its community service projects for the year.

The club donates dictionaries to every third-grade class in the Wellington area, and members of the club personally delivered them to the classes and discuss some of the content of the book to ensure the students understand the meaning of specific words. The program started Monday, Oct. 7 and was completed Friday, Oct. 11.

More than 2,400 dictionaries were distributed to the children. The dictionaries were donated by club, both by specific grants obtained from the Rotary Foundation, as well as personal donations by members of the club. During the distribution of the dictionaries, the students were also given a presentation about Rotary and what the club does both locally and internationally.

The program was spearheaded by Debbie Sanacore and Maggie Zeller. Many club members participated in the distribution of the dictionaries and spoke to the classes to discuss the contents. The club looks forward to continuing this program in years to come.
